Object Management Group to Host Healthcare Business Process Modeling Workshop on Dec. 6
Speakers from IBM, Mayo Clinic and US Department of Veterans Affairs to Headline Workshop

Needham, MA - November 21, 2016 - The Healthcare and Business Process Modeling Notation Workshop will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at the Loews Coronado Bay Hotel in Coronado, California, USA. The workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and is hosted by the Object Management Group® (OMG®), an international, open membership, not-for-profit technology standards consortium. Registration is open to the public.

Experts from the medical field and business modeling will discuss how OMG's business process modeling standard can streamline the portability of clinical processes and workflows that govern how protocols are followed and care is delivered in healthcare organizations. For example, the agenda includes: 

  • The Usage of BPMN™ for Obamacare
  • Using BPMN to Operationalize Clinical Knowledge
  • Integrating Clinical Information Modeling with BPMN
  • Modeling the Cognitive Side of Care Processes. Case Study: The Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation

The keynote speaker is Shane McNamee M.D., who serves as the Director of Development for the Health Solutions Management office in the Veterans Health Administration, US Department of Veterans Affairs. His presentation, "Interoperable Healthcare Workflows: A Vision for the Industry," will address the emergence of the OMG Business Process Modeling Notation™ (BPMN) standard to stabilize health care processes that support both patients and providers as organizations strive toward improved efficacy and high reliability.
