IIoT Authorities to Address How Object Management Group Standards Shape Industrial Internet of Things
Co-located with the OMG Technical Meeting from March 14-18, 2016

Needham, MA - Feb. 17, 2016 - The Object Management Group® (OMG®), an international, open membership, not-for-profit technology standards consortium, today announced the agenda and lineup of speakers for its OMG Standards at Work in the IIoT Special Event. The event will take place on March 17, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. to noon EDT at the Hyatt Reston Town Center in Reston, Virginia. Attendees will hear practitioners and leaders share case studies and present their vision of the future within this rapidly growing field. Registration is complimentary and open to the public.

"Attendees will benefit from a closer look at how OMG IIoT standards are at the heart of many Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) systems, from controlling hydro-electric power generation to integrated logistics fleet management systems," said Dr. Richard Soley, Chairman and CEO of OMG.

A panel of experts will demonstrate how OMG standards such as DDS™(Data-Distribution Service™), SysML® (Systems Modeling Language), IFML™ (Interaction Flow Modeling Language), Ontology Definition MetaModel (ODM) and Model Driven Message Interoperability™ (MDMI™) are contributing to the improved productivity, cost savings, and streamlined processes of the Industrial Internet. In addition, OMG's Systems Assurance Task Force will participate in a panel discussion about standards that ensure security, dependability and efficiency of IIoT systems. Dr. Bill Curtis, executive director of the OMG-managed Consortium for Information & Software Quality ™ (CISQ)™ will discuss how to measure quality points, including reliability and security, that are vital to the systems and processes of the Industrial Internet.

The agenda includes the following topics:

  • Overview of OMG, the Industrial Internet and current IIoT standards describe areas where OMG standards provide a foundation for IIoT deployments around the globe.
  • OMG Standards at Work in the IIoT panel discussion is an in-depth look of OMG standards and the role they play in security, dependability and efficiency in the IIoT.
  • Bosch Software Innovations will provide an update about the Track & Trace testbed, which is the first Industrial Internet Consortium Testbed on course to create an international standard for the integration of industrial power tools.
  • Software security Issues in the Industrial Internet examines the impact IoT has on integrating systems built by different vendors and manufacturers, and examines incorrect assumptions about how different systems work and integrate.
